New Patients

We’re always happy to welcome new patients to our practice. Whether you’re overdue for a checkup, have a specific concern, or are simply looking for a dentist who takes the time to listen, we aim to make your first visit comfortable, clear, and stress-free.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

New patients generally fall into one of two categories. We are happy to accommodate both.

1. Comprehensive New Patient Exam

For patients seeking routine care or returning to regular dental visits, a comprehensive exam includes:

  • A full evaluation of your teeth, gums, and oral health

  • Review of your dental and medical history

  • Any necessary X-rays

  • Discussion of findings

  • Clear explanation of treatment options

  • Time for your questions

When appropriate, a dental cleaning may also be completed during the same visit.

2. Problem-Focused / Emergency Exam

For patients with a specific issue—such as pain, sensitivity, swelling, or a broken tooth—we offer a focused evaluation to diagnose the problem and determine appropriate treatment.

This visit may include:

  • An examination limited to the area of concern

  • X-rays targeted to the issue

  • Explanation of the diagnosis

  • A discussion of treatment options

Our goal is to address urgent needs promptly and clearly.

What to Bring

To help us prepare for your visit, please bring:

  • A valid photo ID

  • Dental insurance information you’d like us to review

  • A list of medications

  • Previous X-rays or dental records (if available, but not required)

Insurance & Payment

We work with a variety of dental insurance plans and are happy to help you understand how your benefits may apply. If you provide your insurance information before your appointment, we can review your coverage and give you a clear explanation of any expected costs.

We believe in transparency and will always discuss treatment and fees openly.

For Patients Who Feel Anxious

Many patients experience dental anxiety, and we take that seriously.
Dr. Schlesinger’s calm, gentle approach emphasizes:

  • Clear communication

  • Step-by-step explanations

  • Frequent check-ins

  • A pace that keeps you comfortable

For patients with significant anxiety—or for those who feel unable to undergo treatment comfortably—treatment under anesthesia or sedation can be arranged when appropriate. We will discuss your needs, review available options, and coordinate care to ensure the safest and most comfortable experience possible.

Please feel free to share any concerns before or during your visit.

Children & Families

Children who are comfortable in a general dental setting are welcome. If your child requires specialized pediatric care, we can recommend a trusted provider.
